About this quest
Wizard Mizgog has lost four beads to imps and wants them back. In principle you hunt imps across the world and hope for drops; in practice the beads cost a few hundred coins on the Grand Exchange and nobody has hunted an imp for this quest in years.
That shortcut is legitimate and intended — the beads are ordinary tradeable items. Buying them turns a potentially hour-long hunt into a five-minute errand, which is why this quest is usually one of the first done.
Why do it: 875 Magic experience takes a fresh account straight to level 7 or so, which is a meaningful head start on the slowest early stretch of the skill.
What makes this quicker
- Buy the four beads rather than hunting imps for them. Imps drop them rarely and the Grand Exchange sells all four for very little.
Walkthrough
01The beads
Four beads: red, yellow, black and white. All four are tradeable and cheap.
- 1
Buy a red, yellow, black and white bead from the Grand Exchange. They cost very little and this saves hunting imps entirely.
- Red bead
- Yellow bead
- Black bead
- White bead
- 2
If you would rather not buy them, imps drop beads and wander almost everywhere in free-to-play. Expect this to take considerably longer than the rest of the quest.
Imp drops are random and there is no way to target a specific colour. Buying the set is faster by a wide margin.
02Delivering them
- 1
Climb to the top floor of the Wizards' Tower, south of Draynor Village, and speak to Wizard Mizgog.
- 2
Hand over all four beads to finish.
What to do next
The Magic experience is the reward worth having. Getting to level 7 or so immediately shortens the run to level 55 and High Level Alchemy, which is the first genuinely useful Magic milestone.
You are already at the Wizards' Tower, so Rune Mysteries is the obvious next quest — it starts a short walk away in Lumbridge and unlocks the Runecraft skill entirely.
