Why quests matter more than levels
Quests are the real progression system in Old School RuneScape. Levels make you faster at things you can already do; quests change what is possible. Priest in Peril opens an entire region and most of Slayer. Desert Treasure I gives no experience at all and unlocks the spellbook that high-level combat depends on.
They are also the most efficient experience in the early game by a wide margin. The experience curve is shallow at low levels, so a quest granting 13,750 experience takes a fresh account from level 1 to 30 — hours of training compressed into half an hour of running errands.
The practical consequence is that a new account should do quests before training toward anything. Check the requirements first, do the quests that reward the skill you were about to grind, and start from wherever they leave you.
About our quest pages
Requirements, rewards and lengths here are factual game data. The written context — what a quest is like, whether it is worth prioritising — is ours.
Step-by-step walkthroughs only appear where we have actually written one. We do not reproduce or paraphrase walkthroughs from other sites, so a quest without our own guide says so plainly and links to the wiki for the route.
