About this quest
Starting out: Talk to the Observatory professor in the Observatory Reception Room north of Castle Wars.
There is no written introduction to this one yet. The walkthrough, requirements, items and rewards below are complete.
Walkthrough
01Repairing the telescope
- 1
Speak to the Observatory professor in the reception room north of Castle Wars and ask about the Observatory. Goblins have moved in and broken the telescope.
- 2
Talk to him three separate times so he takes the planks, the bronze bar and the molten glass one at a time.
He takes one item per conversation. If you walk off after the first, the quest looks stuck when it is simply waiting for you to talk again.
02The lens mould
- 1
Take the stairs east of the reception room down into the Observatory Dungeon. Pick up the superantipoison spawn in the corner of the south-eastern building if you have no antipoison.
- 2
Find the goblin kitchen key. It is usually in the south-eastern chest, but the location varies — search chests as you pass them.
- 3
Recover the mould and take it back to the professor. The level 42 goblin guard can be trapped behind a column rather than fought.
03Viewing the stars
- 1
Go back down and follow the north-west passage past the kitchen to the southern set of stairs leading up into the Observatory.
- 2
A cutscene plays at the top. If it does not, you have not given the professor the finished lens.
- 3
Talk to the professor, then view the telescope. The constellation you see decides which experience reward you get, so this last click is the one that matters.
Rewards
Everything else
- Crafting experience
- Your item reward depends on what astrological sign you see when you look through the telescope. It is different for each person. Each one rewards an uncut sapphire as well as one of the following:
- The Spirit of Scorpius will now give you a mould to make unholy symbols, and he will bless them for you too. He can be found in the graveyard north of the Observatory.
- Talk to the Observatory assistant after the quest and he will reward you with a jug of wine as well as tell you his and the professor's real name.
- Access to the grappling shortcut rock outside the Observatory.
- Completing this quest awards the player with 5 Kudos which can be claimed by talking to Historian Minas in the Varrock Museum.
