About this quest
Count Draynor has been terrorising Draynor Village and Morgan wants him dealt with. It is the first quest most free-to-play accounts do that ends in a real fight, and the fight is genuinely dangerous for a fresh character.
The structure is simple — collect two items, then fight — but the fight has a mechanic that no earlier quest has prepared you for. Count Draynor cannot be killed by damage alone; the stake has to go in while he is weakened.
Why do it: 4,825 Attack experience is one of the largest free-to-play combat rewards available with no requirements, and it takes a new account several levels in one hand-in.
What makes this quicker
- Buy the garlic and the stake rather than looking for them. Both are cheap and neither is worth a detour.
- Put the garlic in the cupboard before you go down to the coffin, not after — the fight is much harder without it and there is no way to fix it mid-fight.
Walkthrough
01Morgan and the garlic

Speak to Morgan in Draynor Village, in the house just north of Ned's.

Go upstairs in Morgan's house and take the garlic from the cupboard.

The garlic is easy to walk past. Without it the Count regenerates faster than you can damage him.
02Dr Harlow and the stake

Find Dr Harlow in the Blue Moon Inn in Varrock — the drunk in the bloodstained apron.

He asks for a beer before helping. Buy one at the bar and hand it over.

He gives you the stake and explains that a hammer drives it in once the vampyre is weak.

03Count Draynor
The fight is in the manor basement. Everything you need has to be in your inventory before you open the coffin, because there is no run-up.

Go to Draynor Manor with combat gear, food, the garlic, the hammer and the stake.

Take the large stairs down on the east side of the building to reach the coffin.

Opening the coffin spawns the Count immediately. Be ready before you click it.
There is no warning and no pause. Eat, equip and check your inventory before touching the coffin — a fresh account that opens it unprepared usually dies.

Fight him down, then use the stake on him when he weakens. Damage alone will not finish him.
What to do next
The Attack experience is substantial for a free-to-play account and is best spent immediately — it lifts you into the levels where better weapons become usable.
You are in Draynor, which is a short walk from the Wizards' Tower and Lumbridge, so Imp Catcher and Rune Mysteries are convenient if you have not done them.
