About this quest
Twenty years after Elvarg, the dragonkin are stirring and the trail runs from the Myths' Guild to a ruined vault north of Morytania. It is a grandmaster quest and it plays like one: long, heavily gated, and finishing with two of the hardest boss fights most accounts will have attempted.
The requirements are the first obstacle — a long list of prior quests and skills that most accounts have to work toward deliberately. The second is Vorkath, and the third is Galvek, who has four phases and an attack that kills outright if you do not move.
It is also one of the most rewarding quests in the game. Vorkath alone is among the best money makers available, and unlocking it changes what an account can earn per hour permanently.
Why do it: Vorkath, which is one of the best money makers in the game, plus rune and adamant dragons, Ava's assembler and the Myths' Guild.
Walkthrough
01What you are signing up for
Dragon Slayer II is the longest quest most accounts will ever do and the item list is the longest on this site. It is also, unusually for a grandmaster, mostly not a combat quest — the difficulty is in the length and in one fight near the end.
- 1
Gather every item on the list before you start. Twenty entries, several of which are a quest of their own to obtain, and the quest does not pause while you go and get them.
The nails bend. Bring more than twelve or you will be making a trip back for them.
- 2
Have a way to make three Fire Wave or Fire Surge casts. This is needed at a specific point and there is no melee substitute.
02Lithkren and Robert the Strong
The opening third is exploration and construction rather than fighting. It is slow but it is safe.
- 1
Start off with the Dragonkin thread and work through the House on the Hill.
- 2
Get to Lithkren. This is the section the planks, swamp paste, saw and nails are for — you are building the way in.
- Hammer
- 3
Do the Bob the Cat section. The catspeak amulet is required here and there is no alternative.
- 4
Find Robert the Strong. The quest hands you the next objective from here.
03The four key pieces
The middle of the quest is four separate expeditions to four corners of the world. They are independent and each one is a self-contained trip — this is the natural place to break the quest across sessions.
- 1
Karamja: the shortest of the four and a reasonable one to do first.
- 2
Morytania: the ghostspeak amulet earns its place here.
- 3
Ungael: this is the fight. Vorkath's predecessor has real mechanics and an order of priorities you need to know before you engage rather than during.
This is the one part of Dragon Slayer II that reliably kills people. Treat it as a boss trip: full supplies, best gear, and read the mechanics first.
- 4
Kourend: the last of the four, and back to errands rather than combat.
- 5
Reforge the key once you have all four pieces.
04The assault
The finale is five parts with dragons between them. It is long, it is scripted, and it does not bank you — this is the section to start fresh rather than at the end of a session.
- 1
Build the ultimate weapon and unite the factions. Story rather than difficulty.
- 2
Work through the five parts of the assault. Each has dragons and each expects you to still have supplies.
There is no bank inside the assault. Go in full or do not go in.
- 3
The final phase adds dragonfire on top of the phases. An anti-dragon shield or antifire is not optional here.
- 4
Finish to unlock Vorkath, the myths' guild, and the ability to make dragonfire ward — Vorkath alone makes this one of the most valuable quests in the game to have behind you.
What to do next
Learn Vorkath properly. It is the reason to have done this quest, and the difference between a comfortable kill and a lost inventory is almost entirely familiarity with the fight rather than gear.
Ava's assembler is a straight upgrade to the accumulator and should be equipped immediately if you use Ranged at all.
The Lithkren vault holds rune and adamant dragons, which are a reasonable alternative money maker when you want something less demanding than Vorkath.
