About Crafting

Crafting covers a wide range of production: gem cutting, jewellery, dragonhide armour, glassblowing and battlestaves. Most routes cost GP.

It is worth training past 70 for the dragonhide bodies and the ability to make your own teleport jewellery.

Fastest training

Rates assume an attentive player with the gear and unlocks that make each method work. Real sessions include banking, breaks and mistakes.

Battlestaves at the Crafting Guild

Levels 66–99220,000–280,000 xp/hr

The standard high-level route. Fast, simple and predictable, at a cost of several hundred GP per staff.

Glassblowing

Levels 1–9980,000–130,000 xp/hr

Cheaper than battlestaves but slower, and the products sell reasonably well.

Dragonhide bodies

Levels 63–99

Slower and more expensive but the products hold value, so the net cost is lower than it first looks.

Other approaches

Cheapest
Cutting gems you have gathered yourself, or spinning flax at the Lumbridge wheel in the very early levels.
Profitable
Cutting uncut gems and stringing amulets can both turn a small profit depending on live prices.
Free-to-play
Leather crafting, gold jewellery and gem cutting are all available. Free players commonly craft gold amulets.

Useful quests

Quest experience is often worth far more than the time it takes, particularly at low levels where the curve is shallowest.
