OSRS Prayer training guide
Temporary combat boosts and protection prayers, trained by burying or offering bones.
About Prayer
Prayer provides the protection prayers that make most bosses survivable and the offensive prayers that raise your damage and accuracy. It is one of the most expensive skills in the game to train.
Because it is bought rather than ground out, Prayer is usually trained in bursts when a player has GP spare, rather than continuously.
Fastest training
Rates assume an attentive player with the gear and unlocks that make each method work. Real sessions include banking, breaks and mistakes.
Superior dragon bones on a gilded altar
The fastest and most expensive route. A gilded altar in a player-owned house with both incense burners lit gives 350% of base bone experience.
Dragon bones on a gilded altar
The standard route. Considerably cheaper per point than superior bones and still very fast.
Ensouled heads at the Dark Altar
Slower but far cheaper, and it produces combat experience alongside the Prayer experience.
Other approaches
- Cheapest
- Bury big bones collected from hill and moss giants. Free, and it teaches you where the giants are.
- AFK
- Not really an AFK skill — every method needs steady clicking.
- Free-to-play
- Bury big bones from hill giants. Free players have no altar access, so the rates are slow.
Useful quests
Quest experience is often worth far more than the time it takes, particularly at low levels where the curve is shallowest.
