About Woodcutting
Woodcutting is where most new accounts make their first real GP. Willow and yew logs sell constantly, and the skill needs nothing but an axe.
At higher levels redwoods offer excellent AFK experience, and the Woodcutting Guild concentrates every useful tree in one place.
Fastest training
Rates assume an attentive player with the gear and unlocks that make each method work. Real sessions include banking, breaks and mistakes.
Sulliuscep mushrooms
The fastest Woodcutting experience in the game, on Fossil Island. Requires Bone Voyage and constant attention.
Teak trees at Ape Atoll or Hardwood Grove
Two-tick teak cutting is very fast but demanding. Regular teak cutting is still strong and far easier.
Redwood logs
Slower experience but extremely AFK and the logs are worth banking.
Other approaches
- Cheapest
- Entirely free. An axe you can already wield is the only requirement.
- Profitable
- Yew and magic logs are the classic steady earners. Redwoods are better GP per hour at high levels.
- AFK
- Redwoods are the most AFK tree in the game, with a click every 30 seconds or so.
- Free-to-play
- Normal logs to 30, then willows at Draynor and yews at Varrock or Falador for GP.
Useful quests
Quest experience is often worth far more than the time it takes, particularly at low levels where the curve is shallowest.

- Yew log cuttingCut and bank yew logs. The long-standing free-to-play income route, and it costs nothing to start.Level 60
- Redwood logsThe most AFK tree in the game. Redwoods need a click every thirty seconds or so and the logs bank well.Level 90
- Teak treesTeak logs feed Construction, so demand is constant. Two-tick cutting produces both the fastest experience and the best rate.Level 35
- Chambers of XericThe first raid, and the one that pays for learning it rather than after you have.Level 70
