Yew log cutting

Cut and bank yew logs. The long-standing free-to-play income route, and it costs nothing to start.

F2PBeginnerNo riskVery AFK

Yew logs are the free-to-play woodcutting staple, and they have been for the whole life of the game. Nothing about the method is clever: find a yew tree near a bank, chop, bank, repeat.

Tree choice is the whole optimisation. Edgeville, Falador Park and Seers' Village all put yews within a short walk of a bank, and the walking is most of the difference between a good rate and a bad one.

Demand comes from Fletching and Firemaking training, both of which consume logs permanently, so the price rarely collapses.

The rate is low by members standards. Its value is that it needs Woodcutting 60, an axe and nothing else at all.

What you actually do

  1. 1Travel to a yew tree near a bank — Edgeville, Falador Park or Seers' Village.
  2. 2Chop until your inventory is full.
  3. 3Bank and repeat.

Getting the most from it

  • Pick trees close to a bank. Walking time is most of the difference between a good and a bad rate here.
  • Yew logs sell steadily because they feed Fletching and Firemaking training.
  • This is a free-to-play staple precisely because it needs nothing but the level and an axe.
