Black chinchompa hunting

Trap black chinchompas in the Wilderness. Excellent GP and Hunter experience, with genuine risk of being killed by other players.

Black chinchompas are the best Hunter money in the game by a wide margin, and the reason is geography rather than difficulty. They only spawn in deep Wilderness, so the rate includes a permanent risk premium.

The hunting itself is straightforward — lay box traps in a compact pattern and cycle them — and the trap count rises with your Hunter level, which is the main lever on the rate.

Bring traps, food and a way out and nothing else. Chinchompas stack, so the loot is easy to protect if you leave in time and impossible to protect if you do not.

Red chinchompas are the same activity without the Wilderness. The rate is lower, but for many players the difference is smaller than the stress saved.

What you actually do

  1. 1Travel to the black chinchompa hunting area in the Wilderness.
  2. 2Set box traps in a compact pattern and cycle between them, resetting as they trigger.
  3. 3Watch for other players constantly — this is deep Wilderness.
  4. 4Bank or teleport out before you are carrying more than you can afford to lose.

Getting the most from it

  • The rate is excellent and the risk is other players, not the chinchompas.
  • Take nothing but traps, food and a teleport. Chinchompas are the loot worth protecting.
  • Red chinchompas are the safe alternative if you would rather not risk PvP — lower rate, no risk.
