OSRS Strength training guide
Increases your maximum melee hit and is the single biggest melee damage stat.
About Strength
Strength raises your maximum hit with melee weapons. For most of the game it is the most valuable melee stat to train, because damage scales your kill speed everywhere from Slayer tasks to raids.
Strength also contributes more to combat level than Defence does, which matters if you are building an account for player-versus-player at a specific bracket.
Fastest training
Rates assume an attentive player with the gear and unlocks that make each method work. Real sessions include banking, breaks and mistakes.
Aggressive style on Sand Crabs
Identical to Attack training but with the aggressive style selected. Sand Crabs stay aggressive as long as you do not move, so this can run for long stretches.
Nightmare Zone with Dharok's
A Dharok set at low hitpoints combined with absorption potions produces very high hourly rates for very little attention. The setup cost is the barrier, not the difficulty.
Other approaches
- Cheapest
- Sand Crabs cost nothing but time. Bring a weapon you can already wield and a little food.
- Profitable
- Slayer tasks and green dragons both train Strength while producing drops worth selling.
- AFK
- Nightmare Zone is the standard answer. Sand Crabs are the free alternative.
- Free-to-play
- Hill giants in the Edgeville dungeon give reasonable experience and drop big bones for Prayer.
Useful quests
Quest experience is often worth far more than the time it takes, particularly at low levels where the curve is shallowest.
- Dragon Slayer IThe classic free-to-play capstone. Defeat the dragon Elvarg to unlock rune platebody.18,650 xp
- Waterfall QuestNo combat requirements, no skill requirements, and it takes a fresh account to level 30 Attack and Strength.13,750 xp
- Tree Gnome VillageA maze, a battle and a warlord. Gives strong Attack experience and the glider network.
- Fight ArenaA series of arena fights. One of the better Attack experience rewards available early.
- Horror from the DeepUnlocks the god books, a useful shield-slot alternative with a prayer bonus.4,662 xp
