OSRS Runecraft training guide
Turns rune essence into runes. Slow to train, but the runes are always in demand.
About Runecraft
Runecraft has a reputation as the slowest skill in the game, and at low levels that is fair. Modern methods — the Guardians of the Rift minigame and blood or wrath runes — have improved it considerably.
The runes produced sell constantly, so unlike most artisan skills Runecraft can pay while you train it.
Fastest training
Rates assume an attentive player with the gear and unlocks that make each method work. Real sessions include banking, breaks and mistakes.
Guardians of the Rift
The standard modern method. Reasonable experience, useful rewards and it is far less tedious than running essence.
Blood runes at the Arceuus altar
Profitable, requires no running and produces a rune with permanent demand.
Lava runes with the ring of dueling
Fast experience with binding necklaces, but it costs GP rather than making it.
Other approaches
- Profitable
- Blood, wrath and nature runes are all sold in volume. Nature runes in particular feed the alchemy economy.
- Free-to-play
- Air, mind, water, earth, fire and body runes are all available. Air runes at the Falador altar are the free-to-play staple.
Useful quests
Quest experience is often worth far more than the time it takes, particularly at low levels where the curve is shallowest.
