About Fishing
Fishing produces the food that sustains most combat in the game. Sharks, anglerfish and karambwan all have permanent demand.
It is among the most AFK-friendly skills in Old School RuneScape, which makes it popular with players who want progress without constant attention.
Fastest training
Rates assume an attentive player with the gear and unlocks that make each method work. Real sessions include banking, breaks and mistakes.
Barbarian fishing
Leaping fish at Otto's Grotto train Fishing, Strength and Agility at once. The best overall value in the skill.
Drift net fishing
Fast Fishing and Hunter experience together in the underwater area beneath Fossil Island.
Trout and salmon at Barbarian Village
The standard early route. Fly fishing is simple, cheap and reasonably quick.

- Anglerfish, sharks and karambwan all sell reliably. Minnows trade for shark bulk at Fishing Guild.
- AFK
- One of the best AFK skills in the game. Sharks and anglerfish need a click roughly every 30 seconds.
- Free-to-play
- Shrimp and anchovies to start, then trout and salmon at Barbarian Village or Lumbridge. Lobsters at Karamja are the free-to-play staple.
