01Kovac's workshop

Short, and the gateway to Giants' Foundry, which is one of the better Smithing methods in the game.

1. 1

   Go to the Giants' Plateau east of Al Kharid. The Giants' Foundry minigame teleport lands you on it; otherwise glory to Al Kharid and run east past the hill giants.

2. 2

   Find the hill giant by the giant anvil with a Strike option rather than Attack. Strike him, and he asks you to stop and help instead.

   Follow Kovac into the cave for a cutscene, then repair the workshop fittings with three oak logs, wool, ten nails, a hammer, a chisel and a bucket of water.

   • Wool
   • Hammer
   • Chisel

   Only a normal or Imcando hammer works, and it must be wool rather than a ball of wool.

02Make a sword

1. 1

   Kovac then walks you through the Giants' Foundry as a tutorial. Search the crate near the cave exit for scrap bronze and iron and use it on the crucible until it is full.

2. 2

   You need twenty free inventory slots for this. Drop what you are carrying, search the crate, use the items on the crucible, then pick your things back up.

   The room is an instance. Anything still on the floor when you talk to Kovac is gone for good, so collect your dropped items first.

3. 3

   Speak to Kovac once the crucible is full and follow the forging steps he describes to finish the sword and the quest.
