Starting out: Talk to Rat Burgiss south of Varrock.

There is no written introduction to this one yet. The walkthrough, requirements, items and rewards below are complete.

Speak to Rat Burgiss at the crossroads between Varrock and Lumbridge. Outlaws have taken five papers from his cart and he gives you a folder for them.

The outlaw camp is between Edgeville and the Grand Exchange. Kill five level 32 outlaws for the papers and use each on the folder.

Return the full folder to Rat, who asks you to take a letter to Surok Magis in the Varrock Palace library.

You need to reach the Chaos Altar, with a chaos talisman or tiara, through the Abyss, or via the Temple of the Eye.

To avoid the Wilderness entirely: read Sin'keth's diary, then go east of Varrock, south-west of the Lumber Yard and west of the Earth Altar to a statue of Saradomin.

Talk to Anna Jones for a bronze pickaxe and excavate the statue with it to open the Tunnel of Chaos.
It must be a bronze pickaxe for the excavation, and a catalytic talisman will not work for this route.

Deliver the letter, then go back to Rat Burgiss. He is the commander of the Varrock Palace Secret Guard, and Surok is using a mind-control spell on King Roald — which you have just helped along.

Talk to Zaff at the Varrock staff shop. He gives you a beacon ring and explains the counter-spell.

Restock teleports before you go back to the palace — you will not get a chance once the confrontation starts.

Confront Surok. You end up fighting a level 47 King Roald under his control.

Use the beacon ring when Zaff's instructions call for it to break the spell and finish the quest.

Completing this quest awards the player with 5 Kudos which can be claimed by talking to Historian Minas in the Varrock Museum, while holding the Dagon'hai history book.
