01Auguste on Entrana

Unlocks the balloon transport network, which is genuinely useful for Woodcutting and for reaching the Gnome Stronghold and Varrock quickly.

   Travel to Entrana obeying its no-weapons rule and talk to Auguste on the western side of the island, just north of the Herblore shop.

   If you are boosting any requirement, boost everything before you talk to him. There are further checks when you add the candle and again when you fly.

   He asks for materials for test balloons. Bring them across in two trips rather than trying to carry everything at once.

02Gathering the materials

   Bank at Pest Control between trips — the minigame teleport is far quicker than sailing back and forth from Port Sarim.

   If you are growing Auguste's sapling rather than buying willow branches, plant it in any tree patch and pay the farmer with the basket of apples.

3. 3

   Once it is grown, check its health, wait half an hour, then use secateurs on the tree for branches.

03Flying the balloon

Three screens of navigation, and the landing is the part everyone fails first time.

1. 1

   The balloon must finish one space above the landing pad with no gap between them.

   Overshooting the pad blows you away; landing in the same space as the pad smashes the balloon. Either way you restart the flight with fresh logs and a tinderbox — though you do not have to rebuild the balloon.

   Adjust height gradually rather than in large corrections, and read the next screen before you commit to a change.
