About this quest

Starting out: Talk to Advisor Ghrim in Miscellania Castle.

There is no written introduction to this one yet. The walkthrough, requirements, items and rewards below are complete.

Walkthrough

01Thefts on both islands

  1. 1

King Vargas reports items going missing. Talk to any one of Gunnhild, Leif, Frodi or Magnus — they all say the same thing about Etceterian soldiers demanding tithes.

  2. 2

Queen Sigrid tells the mirror image of that story. Speak to Helga, Haming or Matilda downstairs, then report back.

  3. 3

Neither kingdom has an army, which is the point. As regent, it becomes your problem.

02Into the dungeon

  1. 1

Advisor Ghrim suspects outsiders and sends you to the Sailor on the Miscellania docks, who mentions children visiting family in the dungeon.

  2. 2

Donal gives you a mining prop. Take a bronze pickaxe from the rock by the two dwarf miners if you need one.

    • 3

Use the prop on the crevice and squeeze through to the broken lift.

    03The lift and the diary

    1. 1

Take an engine, three beams, three pulley beams and two ropes from the crates, and add five coal to the engine.

      • Coal
      • Rope
    2. 2

Take the plank into the small east tunnel, then use a rope on the overhanging rock to swing across the water.

      • Plank
    3. 3

Search the fire remains for the first part of a burnt diary, and two more further in.

    4. 4

Cross the slippery rocks with the plank — it is not consumed. Walking them without it costs 8 damage.

    04The Giant Sea Snake

    1. 1

Past the crevice, a cutscene reveals the culprits: children who failed the Fremennik trials and wanted to start a war they could then end as heroes.

    2. 2

Work through the passages full of Sea Snake Young to another crevice, and the Giant Sea Snake at level 149 with only 100 hitpoints.

    3. 3

Protect from Melee up close, Protect from Missiles at range. A dwarf multicannon helps at low levels.

Its poison hits 9. Bring an antipoison — a superantipoison gives five minutes of immunity and is the safer choice.
