Gold ore mining

Mine and bank gold ore. A step up from iron for free players, available at Mining 40.

F2PBeginnerNo riskModerate attention

Gold ore is worth mining mainly because of where it is. The Crafting Guild rocks sit next to a bank, which turns a mediocre ore into a competitive method purely on trip length.

The alternative use is to smelt it. Gold bars feed straight into bracelet and amulet crafting, and with goldsmith gauntlets they are among the best Smithing experience in the game.

A brown apron is required to enter the Crafting Guild, and Crafting 40 alongside it. Both are trivial, but arriving without the apron wastes the trip.

The rate is unspectacular. Its value is that it is available at Mining 40 with no quest, no risk and no capital.

What you actually do

  1. 1Travel to the Crafting Guild or the Al Kharid mine.
  2. 2Mine gold ore until full.
  3. 3Bank and repeat, or take the ore to a furnace if you intend to smelt it.

Getting the most from it

  • The Crafting Guild rocks are next to a bank, which is what makes this competitive with better ores elsewhere.
  • Gold ore feeds directly into gold bracelet and amulet crafting if you would rather process it than sell it.
  • The brown apron is needed to enter the Crafting Guild.
