Plank making
Cast Plank Make on logs to produce planks. Trains Magic while supplying the Construction economy.
Planks are consumed by Construction training, which is one of the most expensive skills in the game. That consumption is permanent, so demand tracks how many people are levelling it.
The sawmill charges a fixed fee per plank, which means the margin is purely the log-to-plank price gap minus that fee. Both ends move independently.
Plank Make on the Lunar spellbook converts logs without any travel at all, and for most players it is faster than the sawmill despite the rune cost. It requires Dream Mentor and Magic 86.
Mahogany carries the best margin and the highest capital requirement. Teak and oak work the same way with smaller numbers if you are testing the method first.
What you actually do
- 1Buy logs in bulk and travel to the sawmill operator, or use the Plank Make spell.
- 2Convert the logs to planks, paying the fee per plank.
- 3Sell the planks and repeat.
Getting the most from it
- Plank Make on the Lunar spellbook removes the trip to the sawmill entirely and is usually faster.
- The sawmill fee is fixed per plank, so the margin depends entirely on the log and plank prices.
- Planks are consumed by Construction training, so demand tracks how many people are levelling it.
