Tree runs

Plant trees and fruit trees, then return hours later. Enormous Farming experience for a few minutes of play.

Tree runs are the same idea as herb runs applied to a longer timer. You plant, you leave, and you come back hours later to a harvest that took ten minutes of work to set up.

Fruit trees and hardwoods carry most of the value. Ordinary trees are largely an experience method with the saplings costing more than the logs return.

The main value here is Farming experience rather than coins. A tree run is one of the best experience-per-minute activities in the game, and the money is a secondary benefit.

Because the timers are long, this fits around real life rather than around a play session. Two runs a day is a normal cadence and costs almost no playtime.

What you actually do

  1. 1Bank saplings for each patch, plus payment items for the farmer at each location.
  2. 2Visit the tree patches in a fixed order, checking health and planting where a patch is empty.
  3. 3Pay the farmer at each patch to protect the tree — cheaper than losing one to disease.
  4. 4Return when the trees are grown, chop or check-health for the experience, and replant.

Getting the most from it

  • Tree runs are about experience rather than gp. Check-health experience is the reward, and it is substantial at higher tiers.
  • Always pay to protect. A diseased tree loses the entire growth cycle, which is worth far more than the payment.
  • Combine with a herb run — the patches overlap and the same teleports serve both.
