Abyssal demons

The Slayer task most associated with the abyssal whip. Low attention, safe, and consistently paid.

Abyssal demons exist as a money maker because of one item. The abyssal whip has been the standard melee weapon for most of the game's life, and it drops here often enough to carry the whole method.

Between whips the task still pays reasonably — rune items, alchables and consistent coin drops keep the floor from being zero — but nobody kills abyssal demons for the filler.

They teleport constantly, which is the main friction. Killing them in the Slayer Tower means chasing; killing them in the catacombs or the Abyssal Area gives more contained spawns and a noticeably better rate.

Slayer 85 is the gate, and getting there is a long project. If you are already levelling Slayer this is one of the best tasks to receive; if you are not, the level is not worth chasing for this alone.

What you actually do

1Take an abyssal demon task and travel to the Slayer tower or the Catacombs.
2Kill demons, using Protect from Melee to reduce food use substantially.
3Bank when out of supplies; both locations are close to one.

Getting the most from it

The whip drop is the reason to be here, but the consistent alchable drops cover supplies on their own.
The Catacombs version gives better regular loot; the Slayer tower version is closer to a bank.
Cannon works well here if you have Dwarf Cannon done and are somewhere it is permitted.
