Vorkath

A solo dragon boss with a predictable pattern and consistently valuable drops. One of the most reliable high-level earners.

Vorkath is the standard answer for a player who has just finished Dragon Slayer II and wants dependable income. The fight is entirely learnable — the same attacks in the same order — so improvement comes from practice rather than luck. A first kill might take four minutes and cost most of an inventory; a practised one takes ninety seconds and costs three or four food.

Drops are consistently valuable without depending on a rare. Superior dragon bones and dragonhide alone cover the trip cost several times over, which is what separates Vorkath from bosses whose rate is really a lottery ticket on one item. The visage and the head are upside, not the plan.

The honest cost is Dragon Slayer II, which is a grandmaster quest with a long requirement list of its own. If you are looking at Vorkath as a route out of being broke, the quest is the actual project and the boss is the reward at the end of it.

Two things dominate the rate: how quickly you handle the zombified spawn, and whether you stay for the full trip rather than banking early out of caution. A slayer staff autocasting Crumble Undead removes most of the fiddliness from the first. The second is just confidence, and it comes with kill count.

What you actually do

  1. 1Bank a full kill setup and teleport to Rellekka, then take the boat to Ungael.
  2. 2Enter the instance, use Protect from Magic for the opening phase, then Protect from Missiles for the rest.
  3. 3Kill the spawn when it freezes you — a slayer staff autocasting Crumble Undead makes that far less fiddly.
  4. 4Bank between trips. Most setups get four to six kills before supplies run out.

Getting the most from it

  • Extended super antifire is not optional. Without it the dragonfire alone ends the trip.
  • Learn the acid phase properly before worrying about gear. It is where almost every death happens.
  • The head drop is where a large share of the long-run profit is, so judge the method over many kills rather than one trip.
  • This is the fight worth practising. You will come back to Vorkath for money for a long time, so time spent learning it pays twice.
