Barrows

Clear six brothers and loot the chest. Predictable, safe and a good bridge between early PvM and serious bossing.

MembersIntermediateLow riskModerate attention

Barrows is the most forgiving high-value activity in the game. There is no boss, no timer and no real danger once you know which brother to kill last, so it suits players who want reliable income without the pressure of learning a rotation.

The reward is driven entirely by chest potential, which rises with each brother killed and with the number of tunnel monsters you clear. Killing all six brothers and taking a full runs at the tunnel is roughly the difference between a mediocre rate and a good one.

The items themselves degrade, which is why they hold their price — every set sold is eventually destroyed by use. That keeps demand steady in a way that most equipment drops do not enjoy.

The main drag on the rate is travel. A Barrows teleport, or the Morytania hard diary reward, cuts a substantial amount of walking out of every run, and over a long session that walking is most of what separates a good hour from an average one.

What you actually do

  1. 1Bank a setup and teleport to the Barrows mounds in Morytania.
  2. 2Kill all six brothers in their crypts, digging into each mound in turn.
  3. 3Run the tunnels to the central chest, clearing enough monsters to fill the reward potential.
  4. 4Loot the chest and teleport out. A full run takes about five minutes once the route is familiar.

Getting the most from it

  • Killing all six brothers is what fills the reward potential. Skipping one costs more than the time it saves.
  • Ahrim and Karil can be safespotted or prayed against; Dharok is the dangerous one at low health.
  • The route is identical every time, which is why this is such a good first money-making boss — it becomes automatic.
  • Bring a way out. A failed run is much cheaper if you can leave rather than dying in the tunnels.
