Zulrah
A rotation-based snake boss requiring gear switching. Steep learning curve, excellent and consistent payout.
Zulrah pays more per hour than almost anything else available at its requirement level, and it does so because the fight punishes mistakes hard enough that most players never learn it properly. The snake cycles between three forms, each demanding a different prayer and a different attack style, and each rotation moves you to a specific tile.
The rotations are fixed. There are four of them, and once you recognise which one you are in from the first two phases, the rest of the kill is memory rather than reaction. That is the whole skill — everything else is gear switches you can practise anywhere.
Expect the learning phase to cost money. Deaths here are common early and each one costs a trip of supplies plus the time to recover your items. Most players lose money for their first fifty kills and then never look back.
The drop table is heavily weighted toward the tanzanite and magic fangs, which means your rate over one trip tells you nothing. Judge this method over a hundred kills, not over an evening.
What you actually do
- 1Bank a setup with both ranged and magic gear, then travel to the boat south of Zul-Andra.
- 2Rotate gear and prayer as Zulrah changes colour — green, blue, red and the jad phase each want something different.
- 3Move to the marked tiles as the phase changes rather than standing still.
- 4Bank between kills; supplies run out faster here than at most bosses.
Getting the most from it
- Anti-venom, not antipoison. Zulrah's venom will kill you through food otherwise.
- Learn one rotation at a time rather than trying to memorise all of them at once.
- Gear switching is most of the difficulty. Practise the switches somewhere safe before bringing an expensive setup.
- The drops are heavily weighted toward a few rare items, so short sessions look unprofitable and long ones do not.
