Wintertodt

A group minigame that trains Firemaking quickly and rewards crates containing ores, herbs, seeds and gems.

Wintertodt is not really a boss and not really a skilling method — it is a group minigame that happens to hand out a crate of supplies at the end of each round, and those crates are the income.

Because the reward is supplies rather than coins, the effective rate is hard to state precisely. Herbs, ores, logs, gems and seeds all appear, and what they are worth depends on what the market is paying that week.

For a new members account it is one of the best possible starting points. It trains Firemaking from a low level, needs no combat, and produces exactly the raw materials that other early methods consume.

Warm clothing is the difference between a comfortable round and constantly eating. Four pieces is the usual target and it is cheap.

What you actually do

  1. 1Travel to the Wintertodt camp north of Great Kourend.
  2. 2Chop bruma roots, fletch them if you want the extra points, and feed the braziers.
  3. 3Repair braziers and heal downed players for extra points.
  4. 4Collect the reward crate at the end of each round.

Getting the most from it

  • Warm clothing reduces the damage you take substantially. Four pieces is the usual target.
  • The crates give supplies rather than raw gp — herbs, ores, logs and gems — which is why the effective rate is hard to state precisely.
  • It is one of the best early Firemaking methods and one of the best sources of starting supplies for a new account.
  • Group rounds are considerably faster than solo ones.
